The Government College of Art & Craft in Kolkata (Calcutta) is one of the oldest art schools in India. It was founded as a private art school at Garanhata, Chitpur as the School of Industrial Art on August 16, 1854. In 1864, it was renamed the Government School of Art, and in 1951 it became the Government College of Art & Craft.
