The only known detailed depiction of a Mahican chief. Whole-length portrait of Sa Ga Yean Qua Rah Ton, one of the ‘Four Indian Kings’ who visited London in 1710; standing with head slightly to right, looking to front, face and chest tattoos, leaning on a musket held in his right hand, his left on his hip, in hunting shirt and blanket, moccasins, horn hung over shoulder and across chest; bear at his feet to right, three men hunting deer in the distance at right.
