| Johannes Kip, an engraver born in Amsterdam, settled in Westminster section of London in the late 1680's. His most important work was Brittania Illustrata, etchings depicting the great country houses of Britain. These volumes are of the greatest archaeological interest, as they illustrate the buildings, gardens, parterres and other architectural and topographic features of properties long since divided and lost to history. | |||
