Orr was considered to be one of Scotland’s leading artists of Scottish Wildlife and folklore.

After serving in the Royal Marines during World War II, Norman Orr became a prominent crystal and glassware engraver, later turning more attention to drawing and painting. Examples Orr’s work has been presented to Her Majesty The Queen and other members of European Royal families. He rarely exhibited his work, and almost all his larger paintings were private commissions.
